Kinetic Watts & Volts Ltd, the EV subsidiary of the Kinetic Group, has officially launched the Kinetic DX EV—an electric revival of one of India’s most iconic scooters. Priced at ₹1.11 lakh for the standard DX variant and ₹1.17 lakh for the DX+ (ex-showroom), the model aims to deliver nostalgic appeal with next-generation EV capabilities.
The Kinetic DX EV pays homage to the original Kinetic Honda DX from the 1980s, with design cues like a boxy silhouette, large 12-inch wheels, and a flyscreen that carries a glowing Kinetic logo. The 8.8-inch LCD instrument console mimics the retro dial arrangement, while modern additions like a USB charging port and backlit red starter button bring the scooter into the digital age.
Under the bodywork, the DX EV is powered by a 4.8 kW hub motor paired with a 2.6 kWh LFP battery, located in the floorboard for a lower centre of gravity. The DX+ variant offers a claimed IDC range of up to 116 km and a top speed of 90 km/h. The base DX delivers a 102 km range and an 80 km/h top speed. In real-world urban use, range can extend up to 150 km when ridden at consistent low speeds.
Riders can switch between three ride modes: Range, Power, and Turbo. Other functional enhancements include hill-hold assist, cruise control, a reverse mode, and 37 litres of underseat storage. The scooter supports Bluetooth connectivity, OTA updates, and keyless operation. The premium DX+ model also features “Telekinetic” telematics, providing access to geofencing, vehicle tracking, and remote diagnostics.
Kinetic is offering a standard warranty of three years or 30,000 km, which can be extended to nine years or 100,000 km. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in October 2025, and the company has announced a cap of 40,000 initial bookings to manage rollout demand.
With the launch of the DX EV, Kinetic aims to position itself as a serious player in India’s growing electric mobility segment. The scooter enters a competitive market that includes models from Ola Electric, TVS, Hero Vida, Ather Energy, and Bajaj.
The return of the Kinetic DX in electric form not only revives a beloved nameplate but also brings modern tech, safety, and convenience to today’s urban riders, combining nostalgia with innovation.
