The first locally made electric vehicle (EV) platform model in China is the Kia EV5, a small SUV that runs entirely on electricity. Constructed on the Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV5 is Kia’s third dedicated electric vehicle (EV) and builds on the success of the EV6 and EV9. It is praised for its modular architecture and remarkable versatility.

Three EV5 variants—standard, long-range, and long-range AWD—will be available in China. With a 160 kW motor and 88.1 kWh battery, the long-range variant should be able to go 720 km between charges. The overall output of the long-range AWD variant will be 233 kW.

A multi-table baggage board, a console-integrated refrigerator/warmer, and relaxation chairs with massaging capabilities are just a few of the user-driven amenities that come standard with the EV5.

Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2), which aids with lane changes, maintaining a safe distance from the car in front, and lateral placement, is another feature of the new model. Customers may use the Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 (RSPA 2) system on the EV5 with a touch of the Kia Digital Key 2 smart key. This technology allows the SUV to park itself without the driver having to get in or out of the car.

The new Kia Sonet for the Chinese market was also unveiled by Kia. The Forward-Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), and Smart Driving System are just a few of the clever and advanced technologies that come standard on the Sonet. To increase passenger interaction, the model also has a 10.25-inch dual colour screen and Baidu Connect 3.0.

Additionally, Kia unveiled the Universal Wheel Drive System, or “Uni Wheel.” By relocating the primary drive system components to the empty space inside the wheel hub, this functionally integrated wheel drive system significantly increases the amount of space available inside an EV. Kia has created an entirely new drive system framework as a result.

Furthermore, Kia has announced its intention to develop L4 Smart Driving technology for the Chinese market. The company is currently conducting in-depth testing in different parts of China to ensure high performance in all driving conditions.
