Kia India has joined hands with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to expand its K-Charge electric vehicle (EV) charging network across the country. Under the partnership, Kia EV customers will gain access to over 3,000 BPCL charging points, bringing the total K-Charge network to more than 15,000 public charging stations nationwide.
The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at India Energy Week 2026, held from 27–30 January. According to Atul Sood, Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Kia India, the expanded network aims to make EV ownership more practical and stress-free, enabling customers to plan longer journeys with confidence while supporting India’s shift toward sustainable mobility.
BPCL had originally targeted 7,000 charging stations by March 2025 and has currently commissioned 6,500 stations, including fast chargers along more than 120 highway corridors.
Kia remains a smaller player in India’s EV market, having sold 2,730 electric cars in 2025, representing 1.5% of the total market of 176,817 units. Its current EV lineup includes the locally manufactured Carens Clavis EV and the imported EV6 and EV9 models, which remain costly for Indian buyers due to import tariffs.
Looking ahead, Kia plans to launch a fourth EV, the Syros EV, later this year. The Syros EV will be based on the India-focused Syros small SUV, locally manufactured, and positioned below the Carens Clavis EV Reports suggest it will use Exide Energy-sourced LFP batteries to reduce costs and improve affordability for Indian consumers.
This partnership with BPCL underscores Kia’s efforts to improve EV infrastructure and address one of the key barriers to adoption in India: charging accessibility.
