Kia India, a leading innovator in connected and intelligent mobility, has announced the rollout of an industry-first Plant Remote Over-The-Air (OTA) feature, setting a new benchmark in India’s automotive technology landscape. This innovation underscores Kia’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the customer ownership experience by ensuring vehicles are fully updated and ready to drive from the moment they leave the plant.
The Plant Remote OTA feature will be implemented across Kia’s latest models equipped with the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (CCNC) platform. This groundbreaking technology allows Kia to remotely update and install the latest software versions directly at the manufacturing facility. As a result, customers will receive vehicles preloaded with the newest updates, connectivity enhancements, and system optimisations—eliminating the need for manual updates or dealership visits.
Speaking about the initiative, Mr Atul Sood, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Kia India, said,
“The introduction of the Plant Remote OTA feature exemplifies Kia’s dedication to driving innovation that enhances the customer journey. By ensuring every vehicle leaves the plant with the latest software, we are redefining the ownership experience to be more seamless, intelligent, and future-ready. This milestone reinforces our vision of connected mobility and embodies Kia’s commitment to inspiring movement with meaningful innovation.”
With this initiative, Kia India strengthens its leadership in technology-driven mobility solutions. The Plant Remote OTA uses Controller OTA functionality compliant with Connected Car System 2.0 (CCS 2.0) standards, enabling advanced connectivity, improved security, and real-time updates. Customers will now have instant access to the complete suite of connected services, including navigation, infotainment, diagnostics, and remote vehicle management—all preconfigured before delivery.
By integrating software updates into the production process, Kia India minimises delays and ensures that every connected vehicle aligns with the brand’s latest innovations at the time of delivery. This advancement bridges the gap between manufacturing and customer use, guaranteeing a ready-to-drive, up-to-date ownership experience.
Going forward, Kia plans to extend this Plant Remote OTA capability across all future connected models in its portfolio. The move highlights the automaker’s strategic focus on digital transformation, sustainability, and intelligent mobility, aligning with global automotive trends toward software-defined vehicles and seamless digital ecosystems.
With this pioneering step, Kia India continues to strengthen its reputation as a technology-first brand, offering customers smarter, safer, and more connected vehicles built to meet evolving market expectations.
