People are already referring to Kia’s first electric sedan as “a box office hit.” The Kia EV4 was Korea’s top-selling domestic electric vehicle in just two months of its release.
Kia EV4 is Korea’s best-selling domestic electric sedan
Kia sold only 831 EV4 cars in its first month of sales after starting sales in Korea in April. According to local sources, supply delays and problems with subsidies were to blame for the “limited deliveries” in April.
After government subsidies resumed, Kia anticipated a rapid recovery in sales, and it looks like the problems are being fixed.
With 1,373 sales in May, the Kia EV4 was the best-selling domestic electric vehicle in Korea. Demand for Hyundai’s IONIQ 6 increased as well; sales increased 100% from May of last year to 754 vehicles.
Hyundai is giving up to $6,500 (9 million won) off the current model in anticipation of the IONIQ 6 refresh, which is scheduled to debut later this year. EV manufacturers like BYD are aggressively discounting new electric automobiles, which Hyundai and Kia are having to contend with.
The Kia EV4 still has time to live up to the hype, but one industry insider referred to it as a “box office hit.” The EV4 is among the most reasonably priced cars in its class, with a starting price of roughly $30,000 (41.92 million won).
At 47.5 million won ($35,000), BYD’s Seal electric vehicle, which debuted in Korea in April, is even more expensive than this one.
Two battery sizes—58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh—are available for the EV4, which has a driving range of 382 km (237 miles) in Korea and 533 km (331 miles) in Korea.
In less than 30 minutes, Kia’s electric vehicle can be charged from 10% to 80%. Recharging the extended-range battery takes roughly thirty-one minutes.
Its interior is comparable to those of the brand’s other recent EV models. The system comprises a 5′′ temperature control screen, two 12.3′′ navigation and driver display screens, and Kia’s innovative ccNC infotainment system with approximately 30′′ of combined display.

When Kia introduces the EV4 in Europe later this year and the US in 2026, that will be the true test. The same 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh battery packs, with ranges of up to 235 and 330 miles, respectively, will be offered in the US. It has a range rating of up to 391 miles on the WLTP scale.
In the US, the EV4 will also have an integrated NACS connector that will allow access to Tesla’s vast network of Superchargers.
Kia stated that it intends to sell 165,000 EV4s this year, with 80,000 going to Europe, 50,000 to the US, and 25,000 to Korea.
