Introducing Kia’s first electric hatchback, the EV4.
In just two months since the sedan variant was introduced in Korea in April, the EV4 has already surpassed all other Korean electric sedans in sales. People are already referring to it as a “box office hit“. The new hatch variant is now formally available for purchase.
On Monday, Kia began accepting orders for the EV4 hatchback in the UK, with prices starting at £34,695 ($47,700). Kia’s first attempt at an electric hatchback is the EV4.
It offers the longest driving range of any EV Kia has ever developed, with an amazing WLTP of 388 miles.
The hatch is specifically designed for European consumers, but it has the same E-GMP platform as Kia’s other electric cars and the EV4 sedan.
The 58.2 kWh or 81.4 kWh battery packs that come with the standard EV4 “Air” have WLTP driving ranges of up to 273 or 388 miles when fully charged. According to Kia, it’s the company’s first electric car with a range of more than 380 miles.
Only the sporty “GT-Line” and high-end “GT-Line S” models come with the extended-range (81.4 kWh) battery, which has a 362-mile range.
A single front motor with 201 horsepower (150 kW) and 283 Nm of torque powers all EV4 hatchback variants, allowing for a 7.5-second sprint from 0 to 62 mph.
With its new connected car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) at the centre, the interior is built up similarly to Kia’s most recent EV vehicles, such as the EV3 and EV9. The arrangement includes a curved panoramic display with infotainment panels and two 12.3′′ driver clusters. For convenient access to heating and ventilation features, a supplementary 5.3-inch touchscreen for climate management is included.
Similar to the EV3, Kia’s electric hatchback will come with ChatGPT-powered AI assistance. Additionally, it will be the first car from the company to have many entertainment options, such as “Rest mode” and “Theatre mode“.
The electric hatch boasts a 435-litre boot when all the seats are up, making it “one of the most practical vehicles in its segment“, according to Kia.
The EV4 hatchback is almost the same dimensions as Kia’s XCeed, measuring 4,430 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,485 mm in height.
Using a 350 kW DC fast charger, the larger battery will take about 31 minutes to charge, whilst the EV4 hatch can be charged from 10% to 80% in 29 minutes.

Kia opened orders for the new electric hatch. It will join the EV3, EV6, and EV9 in the brand’s European lineup. The EV4 hatchback will be built at Kia’s plant in Slovakia to expedite deliveries, which are scheduled to begin in the fall.
Kia also announced that a new EV4 Fastback variant will join the lineup but didn’t offer any additional details. More info, including prices and specs, “will be revealed in due course”. Check back soon for the latest.
