Supplier Quality Engineer – How will you add value?
Acting as a specialist within the assigned commodity to assess potential new suppliers, you will develop existing suppliers and lead continuous improvement activities. You will be responsible for ensuring that GKN and Automotive Standards (IATF 16949 etc.) are being followed and that all supplied products are within agreed specifications.
Using your communication skills you will develop a network of internal stakeholders and experts to leverage collaboration, performance and long-term relationships with suppliers. Key tasks will be:
- Ensuring KPIs are measured and managed and that results are reported.
- Quality Assurance Testing Design and Review.
- Carrying out a range of quality management activities (under the guidance of senior colleagues if needed) to contribute to the identification and evaluation of current policies and business processes, identifying shortcomings and suggesting improvements .
- Resolving queries from internal or external customers or suppliers by providing information on complex processes .
- Document Preparation.
Experience needed to set you up for success:
- Relevant qualifications and experience in procurement OR quality, within an engineering environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills (intermediate English).
- Comprehensive knowledge and skills to act independently while guiding and training others on managing vendors so that they deliver the best possible results given available resources.
- Creative Problem Solving – with examples of finding practical solutions for unexpected client problems, managing and controlling project-related changes when needed.
