Role Purpose of Product Application Engineer: Deliver the platform application engineering requirements for manufacturing release.
Key Responsibilities
• Operate as the engineering representative on the local launch team and the local manufacturing operation representative on the platform engineering team. (Liaison Engineer)
• Lead the application engineering tasks for local manufacture. (Liaison Engineer)
• Understand the customer requirements / specifications for the product.
• Prepare all component design packages for local manufacture.
• Support all relevant application engineering tasks / activities in accordance with customer APQP and Driveline (DL) CAPM deliverables (including Pre ‘CO’ through stage ‘C’ and inclusive of stage ‘D’) within the framework of DL’s programme management sign-off system for all global applications.
• Support the technical response for the stage ‘D’ change management process.
• Manage and support the creation and update of all component DFMEA and PFMEA.
• Lead internal design reviews and approve all components for local manufacture.
• Lead supplier design reviews and approve for local customer release launch. Communicate and coordinate with other transplant locations.
• Lead manufacturing design reviews (DFM and DFA) for local customer release launch. Communicate and coordinate with other transplant locations.
• Lead prototype and pre-production sample build reviews for local customer release launch.
• Authorise the release of the pre-production parts list and structures on the business system for local customer release launch.
• Initiate prototype requests and initial tooling authorisation and release to local product launch centres.
Qualification and Skills
Engineering Degree or Equivalent with 2 – 8 years of experience.
