Position Summary
As the Head of Firmware and System Engineering, you will lead the development of high-reliability embedded firmware and system architectures that power our EV solutions. You will manage multidisciplinary teams working on motor control, battery management, telematics, and safety-critical systems across a range of electric vehicle platforms. This role requires deep technical knowledge, cross-functional leadership, and a passion for advancing sustainable mobility.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the long-term vision for firmware and system engineering in alignment with our electric vehicle roadmap.
- Drive technology innovation in areas such as motor control, BMS, vehicle control units (VCUs), telematics, and charging systems.
- Collaborate closely with product management, hardware, and mechanical teams to align engineering goals with business objectives.
Technical Oversight
- Oversee development of embedded firmware for EV sub-systems: traction control, BMS, CAN communication, diagnostics, HMI, and OTA updates.
- Lead the system engineering team in defining system architecture, requirements, functional safety, and system integration strategies for 2W/3W/4W platforms.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., AIS-038, ISO 26262, ISO 15118).
Team Management
- Build and mentor high-performing teams across firmware and systems engineering disciplines.
- Establish development standards, validation processes, and robust documentation practices.
- Promote a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Act as the technical interface between software, hardware, mechanical, QA, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration and product readiness.
- Support field and customer teams with advanced diagnostics, debugging, and root cause analysis for system-level issues.
Project Execution
- Manage project planning, technical risk assessments, and deliverables across multiple EV programs.
- Track and report engineering KPIs, including quality, timeline adherence, and defect resolution.
- Oversee system verification and validation, DVP&R, and certification processes for EV platforms.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in embedded systems development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong experience in automotive-grade firmware development and system design, particularly for 2W, 3W, or 4W electric vehicles.
- Deep knowledge of microcontroller-based system design (ARM, automotive SoCs), CAN/LIN communication, and real-time embedded firmware (C/C++, RTOS).
- Hands-on experience with EV sub-systems: motor controllers (FOC, BLDC), battery management systems (BMS), chargers, and vehicle control units.
- Experience with functional safety standards (ISO 26262), FMEA/FMEDA, and cybersecurity principles.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior involvement in mass production programs for EVs or EV components.
- Familiarity with AUTOSAR, ASPICE, or similar automotive software frameworks.
- Exposure to cloud-connected systems, telematics, and remote diagnostics.
- Experience with homologation and compliance in Indian or global EV markets (e.g., ARAI, ICAT, NHTSA).
What We Offer
- Opportunity to lead technology development in a high-growth EV company.
- Competitive salary and performance-based bonuses.
- Flexible work arrangements (hybrid/remote options).
- Modern R&D infrastructure and development tools.
- A mission-driven culture focused on sustainability and innovation.
