In order to connect and work closely with entrepreneurs to create the upcoming generation of goods and services, JLR has opened its newest Open Innovation Hub in India. The India Hub will concentrate on deep tech, including artificial intelligence, big data and analytics, the internet of things, ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System), sensors, and gadgets, building on the success of the company’s current innovation hubs in the US, UK, Israel, and Brazil.

Industry, government, academia, and other stakeholders will be brought together by the Hub, which is being created in collaboration with Plug and Play, a corporate innovation platform and investor. They will talk about and create industry-leading solutions for JLR, like delivering more sophisticated ADAS, finding the best sites for charging infrastructure, and optimizing batteries for electric powertrains.

Since the commencement of JLR’s Open Innovation Programme in April 2022, the new Hub is the fifth to open. Over 2,500 start-ups worldwide have been contacted by the program, leading to 33 official partnerships thus far.

“India’s rapidly expanding startup sector, along with JLR’s established presence and close ties to the Tata Group, make the country the ideal location for the newest Innovation Hub,” stated Igor Murakami, Innovation Director at JLR. The establishment of a hub in India will help JLR’s engineering teams innovate swiftly to support vehicle design, features, and enhance customer experiences. JLR’s Open Innovation Programme is bringing us access to the next generation of people and technologies through international collaboration.
