The Jaecoo J5 EV, a compact electric SUV from Chinese automaker Chery under its Omoda Jaecoo sub-brand, has exceeded 2,000 orders in Australia since its launch in December 2025. The vehicle initially reached 1,000 orders within a few weeks, driven by its $36,990 AUD driveaway introductory price, and strong ongoing demand has now pushed total orders past the 2,000 mark.

In response to the high interest, Omoda Jaecoo Australia has decided to extend the $36,990 driveaway offer until the end of April 2026, allowing more buyers to secure the SUV at the promotional price. The J5 EV comes with an estimated 402 km WLTP range and an 8-year unlimited-kilometre warranty, including coverage for the battery. Its combination of affordability, range, and warranty positions it as a strong competitor against other sub-$40,000 EVs in Australia, including the BYD Atto 3 and the MG ZS EV.

Achieving over 2,000 orders in roughly three months makes the J5 EV one of the fastest-selling new electric vehicles in the Australian market so far this year. The extended driveaway pricing reflects the high level of consumer interest in accessible and cost-effective EV options, particularly as buyers navigate rising fuel costs and seek greener alternatives.

With the promotional offer now extended, Jaecoo aims to maintain its momentum in Australia’s growing EV market and strengthen its position in the affordable electric SUV segment.
