The Jet, Inmotion’s newest high-performance electric scooter, looks to be a strong contender for riders seeking a combination of speed and commuter utility. The Jet is one of the best-performing electric scooters in the ~$2,000 price bracket, with a top speed of 50 mph (80 km/h) and two 1,200 W motors that can reach 2,300 W.
A built-in 72V 25Ah lithium-ion battery powers the two motors, providing a stated range of 56 miles (90 km) between charges. For an e-scooter, that 1.8 kWh battery is fairly large; however, the longer the charging time, the larger the battery. In this instance, the scooter typically takes nine to ten hours to charge, according to the firm. Even though it’s not the fastest charging arrangement available, if you top it off overnight, it should provide enough juice for a full day of riding.
Dual hydraulic disc brakes, a crucial component of any swift and potent scooter, provide the Jet significant stopping ability as well. A complete suspension design and an 11-inch tubeless tyre arrangement increase riding comfort. Potholes are smoothed out by a swingarm suspension system up front, while hydraulic shocks in the back maintain a responsive and steady ride even at greater speeds. Riders can fine-tune their handling for roads or trails by quickly adjusting the rear shock to change the ride style.
The rider’s command centre is a sizable 4.3-inch colour touchscreen that is positioned on the handlebars and shows ride modes, speed, and battery life. Common inputs, such as ride modes, still have physical buttons, but riders may view vehicle information and navigate through lengthy menus with changeable parameters using the touchscreen.
In order to help it stay visible in traffic at night, the scooter also has a headlight, brake lights, and turn signals integrated into the handlebar ends. The jet can be stored in a car trunk because it is all wrapped up in a foldable aluminium frame, but it weighs 90 pounds (41 kg), so it may be difficult to lift all the way into the trunk.
The Inmotion Jet has an IPX6 water resistance classification, which means it can withstand wet rides without any issues, and it is rated for riders weighing up to 330 pounds (150 kg), according to Voromotors, the scooter’s sole authorised US distributor.
The Jet, which retails for $2,299, isn’t intended for the low-cost market, but it offers a fast and furious package for riders who want commuter-friendly features combined with real-world performance.
