InfinityX Innovations has secured support from the Technology Development Board (TDB) to develop advanced battery swapping solutions for electric vehicles, marking a boost for India’s clean mobility push.
The Bengaluru-based startup will utilize the funding to build next-generation battery swapping infrastructure, aimed at reducing charging time and improving operational efficiency for EV users.
Battery swapping enables users to replace discharged batteries with fully charged ones within minutes, offering a faster alternative to conventional charging methods. The technology is particularly beneficial for commercial fleets, two-wheelers, and last-mile delivery services, where downtime directly impacts productivity.
The Technology Development Board, operating under the Department of Science and Technology, provides financial assistance to promote the commercialization of indigenous innovations. Its support for InfinityX reflects the government’s focus on strengthening domestic EV technologies and infrastructure.
Industry experts say battery swapping could play a crucial role in addressing key challenges such as range anxiety, long charging durations, and high upfront costs associated with EV ownership.
With increasing EV adoption in urban centers like Bengaluru, initiatives like this are expected to accelerate infrastructure development and encourage wider use of electric mobility solutions across the country.
The development highlights growing collaboration between government bodies and startups to build scalable, efficient solutions for India’s evolving EV ecosystem.
