A new technology called ILiAD+ for Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) has been introduced by ILiAD Technologies. It is anticipated that this patent-pending method will significantly increase impurity rejection while reducing expenses. According to the business, the ILiAD+ method increases the lithium-to-sodium equivalent ratio by more than six times and boosts impurity rejection by more than 85%.
Lithium developers can save a lot of money thanks to the new technology. The most obstinate post-DLE contaminants, including boron, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and manganese, are distilled by ILiAD+, eliminating the need for costly downstream procedures like ion exchange and clarifiers. As a result, less sludge is disposed of, and less lime and hydrochloric acid are used as reagents. The manufacturing of battery-grade lithium ions is also more cost-effective and scalable due to the improved impurity rejection and higher lithium-to-sodium ratio.
“The ability to selectively capture lithium while rejecting impurities from the feed brine is the key to effective DLE,” stated Samuel Moore, CEO of ILiAD Technologies. “ILiAD+ offers a significant improvement in performance over ILiAD, which was previously among the best-performing platforms in the market. Once more, we are able to produce outcomes that are unmatched in the sector, fulfilling the promise of DLE in the process.
“The results obtained with ILiAD+ are astounding and beyond anything we thought possible with Direct Lithium Extraction,” said Derek Benson, Chief Operating Officer of ESM. For developers like us who consider the whole cost of the facility, this new procedure will be revolutionary.
