Hyundai Mobis has collaborated with True Assistive Technology that has been developing assistive technology products of international standards to help persons with disability.

As part of the collaboration, Hyundai Mobis will offer True Assistive Technology’s accessible car seat solution – TurnPlus – to help persons with disability and senior citizens with mobility issues.

The TurnPlus car seat solution can be ordered as an accessory across Hyundai showrooms in India.

True Assistive Technology locally manufactures quality and standardised products, and its signature products – TurnPlus – is claimed to have impacted more than 500 lives in India, to an overwhelming response and encouragement from the persons with disability.

The company says that TurnPlus, is a patented, award winning, easy to install, swivel seat mechanism for cars, which addresses a very important aspect of easy commute and being independent to move around easily. It is designed to improve the quality of travel and life by making car travel easy for people who face mobility challenges.

With TurnPlus, the original seat, along with its track and reclining motion, remains intact. The seat is removed, the mechanism is installed, and the seat is put back. There is no modification to the car’s structure or core functioning. It can be installed in 80% of Indian cars in less than 5 hours.

Additionally, with minimal modification to the vehicle, the mechanism can be removed and the seat can be restored as original condition easily. Thus, not affecting the resale of the vehicle. Further, no maintenance is required & the product comes with a three-year warranty.

According to Yong Goon Park, Managing Director, “The accessible car seat solutions developed by True Assistive Technology will play a crucial role in the Indian automotive market by improving the quality of travel and life for those facing mobility challenges. During this month of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, I want to emphasize on our commitment to promoting the rights and well-being of people with disabilities at all levels of society. We aim to remove barriers and ensure their full and equal participation in every aspect of life.

Speaking about the collaboration, Naina Padaki, Founder, True Assistive Technology, “We are excited to join hands with Hyundai Mobis in our mission of making mobility accessible to all. This collaboration is a first-of-its-kind. Partnering with a global brand like Hyundai Mobis will help us offer accessibility solutions in the Indian market and help several individuals make the choice of stepping out of their house and leading an independent and fulfilling life.”

About 2.68 crore people are estimated to be with disabilities in India, with almost 20% of them having difficulty in movement which causes problems in commuting. A significant challenge of mobility has to do with getting in and out of cars. There is a dearth of products that are completely engineered to aid. Available solutions are mainly modifications made by local garages. Other imported solutions are expensive and only a few dealers provide them, with a cumbersome after-sales experience.
