Hyundai Motor Company has officially rolled out its all-electric IONIQ brand in China, marking a fresh step in its push into the country’s fast-growing EV market. The announcement was made at a launch event in Beijing, just ahead of the Auto China 2026, which is set to open on April 24.
As part of the debut, Hyundai revealed two new concept vehicles designed specifically with Chinese customers in mind. The VENUS Concept, a sleek and modern sedan, focuses on style and innovation, while the EARTH Concept takes the form of a practical, family-oriented SUV built for comfort and reliability.
These concept cars offer a preview of what Hyundai plans to bring to production in the near future. More importantly, they reflect the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in China—not just by introducing new vehicles, but by delivering a more connected and tech-driven mobility experience.
Hyundai says its upcoming models will combine advanced driving technologies with smart, user-friendly interiors tailored to local preferences. The company also highlighted its commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and quality as it expands its EV lineup.
Li Fenggang, President of Beijing Hyundai, noted that the company is focusing on understanding Chinese consumers more deeply and plans to introduce vehicles that align closely with their expectations, especially in areas like intelligent driving features and in-car digital experiences.
With competition heating up from domestic players such as BYD Company and global brands like Tesla, Hyundai’s latest move signals a renewed effort to gain ground in one of the world’s most important electric vehicle markets.
