At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Hyundai Motor Company formally debuted the IONIQ 6 N, its second high-performance electric car, marking a significant advancement in the brand’s electrification process. This new model, which builds on the highly regarded IONIQ 5 N, offers the next generation of EV enthusiasts track-level performance and everyday use.

The IONIQ 6 N boasts impressive performance numbers, with a top speed of 257 km/h and a 0–100 km/h time of just 3.2 seconds. It is powered by 650 PS (478 kW) and 770 Nm of torque. The EV, which was created using state-of-the-art parts from Hyundai’s rolling labs and motorsport programmes, embodies the three “N” pillars of the brand: Everyday Sportscar, Racetrack Capability, and Corner Rascal.

At the highly anticipated “N Moment” presentation, where Hyundai’s best performance vehicles dominated the storied Hillclimb, festival attendees at Goodwood saw the IONIQ 6 N in action.

A Combination of Sound, Style, and Speed

The IONIQ 6 N is powered by a recently redesigned N Battery Management System that maximises charging efficiency and thermal control in harsh environments. The car’s enhanced coolant heating system and clever pre-conditioning measures keep it track-ready for everything from sprint races to endurance tests.

With its broadened fenders and motorsport-inspired swan neck rear wing, the IONIQ 6 N’s aerodynamic design combines an aggressive appearance with practical stability at high speeds. Its eye-catching new Performance Blue Pearl colour adds sophisticated visual depth and strengthens the N identity.

Mastery of Technology for the Track and Beyond

The IONIQ 6 N is packed with Hyundai’s most advanced software yet. Highlights include:

      • N e-Shift: Simulates gear changes for a visceral, motorsport-like feel
      • N Active Sound+: Immersive audio modes like Ignition, Evolution, and Lightspeed
      • N Drift Optimizer: Adjustable drift behavior for track enthusiasts
      • N Track Manager: Real-time lap data, ghost racing, and custom circuit creation
      • N Ambient Shift Light: Visual cues for optimal gear shifting within the cockpit

For rapid handling without sacrificing daily ride comfort, Hyundai engineers also modified the chassis, added stroke-sensing ECS dampers, and altered the suspension geometry.

José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, stated that “the IONIQ 6 N is a high-performance vehicle designed to ignite driving excitement on and off the racetrack.”

Manfred Harrer, EVP and Head of Vehicle Development Tech Unit, added, “It sets a new benchmark for electric performance with advanced dynamics, sharp design, and immersive driver controls.”

Hyundai also revealed a comprehensive line of N performance parts with the introduction, enabling drivers to customise their EVs for both street and race use.
