To improve EV charging in India, Hubject and Exicom, a producer of EV chargers, have established a strategic alliance. With this partnership, Hubject’s Plug&Charge platform will be the main emphasis, and a regional hub will be established in India to assist local charge point operators in compliance with ISO15118 requirements. The main objective is to implement completely automated charging capabilities, positioning India as a regional leader in the Plug&Charge standard.

Thanks to automatic EV-to-charging station authentication, Indian EV owners can now connect their cars to suitable charging stations and begin charging their batteries right away. This creative solution greatly simplifies the charging procedure by doing away with the requirement for apps or RFID cards.

Christian Hahn, CEO of Hubject, commented on the booming EV market in India, noting that sales nearly doubled last year and are projected to increase by 66% this year. He emphasized, “This strategic partnership with Exicom and the introduction of Hubject’s intercharge platform aim to support this rapid growth by enhancing the reliability and ease of the charging experience. This initiative is seen as a crucial step in encouraging more drivers in India to switch from fossil fuel-powered cars to EVs.”

Anant Nahata, CEO of Exicom, highlighted the importance of addressing reliability and providing a seamless EV charging experience in the Indian market. He stated, “The partnership with Hubject aims to create a frictionless charging experience for EV users. Establishing a central interoperability hub will streamline payment settlements and reduce the need for multiple wallets, ensuring a smoother experience for EV users nationwide.”

Hubject’s interoperability technology simplifies the charging process, allowing EV users to locate, access, and pay for charging services through their preferred interface, regardless of the operator. This technology eliminates the need for multiple memberships and payment methods, making the process more user-friendly. Ultimately, the goal is to make EV charging as straightforward as refueling a traditional car with fossil fuels.

This partnership is a significant development for Hubject, Exicom, and the broader Indian EV market, positioning the country as a leader in advanced EV charging technology.
