Although Acura isn’t particularly well-known for premium EVs, it’s difficult to resist the over $20,000 in savings. How long will the savings last? Honda’s Acura is subtly increasing its EV sales in the US.

In the US, Acura is selling more EVs at steep discounts.

Last month, Acura sold 1,873 more ZDX models, bringing its total number of EV sales in the US through May to over 9,000.

Compared to some, such as Tesla, it might not seem like much, but Acura only introduced the ZDX in the US in May 2024.

In May, the ZDX almost sold more units than Honda’s electric SUV. Last month, Honda sold 2,110 Prologues, up from 612 the year before. With more than 33,000 units sold last year, the Prologue swiftly rose to the top of the US EV sales charts. Honda has sold more than 13,500 electric SUVs as of May.

In the first quarter, Cadillac sold 4,300 Lyriqs, which are constructed on the same platform, to give you a better idea. 4,813 ZDX vehicles were sold by Acura at that time. In the US, Acura has sold 9,017 EVs so far in May.

Acura broke the previous sales record in March with 1,935 units, and then again in April with 2,331 ZDX vehicles.

Sales of ZDX are much greater than what the carmaker had anticipated in February. According to Acura’s vice president of national sales, Mike Langel, the company anticipates selling about 1,000 ZDX cars per month this year, Automotive News reported.

“Incentives can only influence the market so much, so we need to be flexible in how we approach it,” Langley continued.

In certain states, Acura is presently making the 2024 ZDX even more affordable than a Honda CR-V Hybrid by giving lease cash of about $30,000. Acura is selling leases for as little as $299 for 24 months with a $2,999 down payment upon signing through June 30.

Last month, Honda unveiled new incentives for the 2025 Prologue that allowed for savings of up to $16,500. Honda is still offering leases for as little as $239 for 36 months, with $1,399 payable at signing, if you can find one. The promotion is accessible in ZEV states, including California.

Among the many incentives that Trump’s new “Big, Beautiful Bill” will eliminate is the $7,500 EV tax credit. Many of these savings will vanish under the law.
