Hero MotoCorp and a California-based manufacturer of high-end electric motorcycles and powertrains are collaborating on the creation of a performance electric motorcycle. The first e-motorcycle from Hero MotoCorp is scheduled to be on sale in FY2026, however the exact date is still unknown.

The two businesses signed contracts to jointly build high-end electric motorcycles in March 2023.

Customers’ desire for electric motorcycles is gradually increasing, even if the majority of India’s demand for electric two-wheelers is met by e-scooters, which are dominated by Ola Electric, TVS Motor Co, Bajaj Auto, and Hero MotoCorp.

Hero MotoCorp will try to gain traction with its jointly built middleweight e-bike with Zero Motorcycles, considering the dearth of options in India’s electric motorbike market.

In essence, the partnership combines Hero MotoCorp’s production, procurement, and marketing capabilities with Zero Motorcycles’ experience in powertrain development and electric motorcycles. Hero MotoCorp is the largest two-wheeler manufacturer in the world.

Hero MotoCorp, the final major heritage player to enter the Indian EV industry (after Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Co.), is witnessing an increase in demand for its Vida line of e-scooters.

Hero MotoCorp has begun to increase the brand’s visibility for Vida, and as of right present, its network includes 203 touchpoints with 180 dealers spread over 116 locations. The V1 Plus and V1 Pro EVs are part of the company’s portfolio, which it intends to grow within the mid- and inexpensive market by FY2025. Additionally, Hero MotoCorp is an early investor in Ather Energy, which has partnered with it to build about 2,500 charging stations.
