The new VX2 electric scooter from Hero’s all-electric sub-brand, Vida, is getting closer to going on sale. According to the brand’s most recent announcement, the next electric scooter will launch the Battery-As-A-Service (BaaS) subscription model.
Although this is a first for the brand, BaaS has been adopted by a number of companies in the industry, including two-wheeler startups Lectrix and Zeno as well as four-wheeler brands like MG. Automakers are able to provide their all-electric vehicles at a very low cost by selling the battery separately, so the buyer only needs to pay for the car. Vida will be able to follow suit as a result.
As a result, the Vida VX2 will be positioned as an extremely reasonably priced electric scooter, particularly in comparison to its rivals, the TVS iQube with a 2 kWh battery, the Ola S1 X, and the Ather Rizta. Hero currently offers two battery options: 2.2 kWh and 3.4 kWh, while we are yet unsure about the Vida VX2’s battery capacity. It is unclear if it will have the same equipment as BaaS.
Hero MotoCorp will also provide a “Pay-as-you-go” ownership model, allowing users to pay according to their consumption if they wish to purchase the Vida VX2 with the battery included. This ought to assist in drastically lowering the initial capital outlay and converting it into more manageable monthly payments.
The model’s potential success with electric two-wheelers is unknown. A few years ago, Bounce Infinity attempted this method, but it wasn’t very successful. The decision to purchase an electric scooter is pointless because Honda offers a comparable pricing structure for the Activa e. However, Hero outperforms its previous partner in this area.
