The Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission (HERC) has directed state power distribution companies to set up electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in major cities, including Gurgaon, Panchkula, Faridabad, Panipat, and Karnal, as part of efforts to promote electric mobility. Discoms are required to provide electricity connections to public charging stations within seven days.
In addition, HERC has approved a 5% rebate on energy and fixed charges for consumers using prepaid electricity meters, aiming to encourage smart metering and improve billing transparency.
The commission also kept electricity tariffs unchanged for 2026‑27, benefiting approximately 83.8 lakh consumers, despite discoms requesting a tariff hike. HERC emphasized efficiency improvements in discom operations along with infrastructure expansion and consumer incentives.
These measures are intended to facilitate EV adoption, reduce electricity costs for prepaid meter users, and promote sustainable energy usage across Haryana.
