The Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Corporation (AMTC) has launched a new fleet of electric buses following a comprehensive cybersecurity audit. The audit was conducted by GlobalLogic, a Hitachi Group company, along with its partner IRCLASS Systems and Solutions Pvt. Ltd. (ISSPL).
The fleet, inaugurated by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on February 13, 2026, features BRT-compatible Midi AC Electric buses equipped with an Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS). Onboard systems include GPS-based Automatic Vehicle Location Systems, Passenger Information Systems, CCTV surveillance, and automated run-kilometre tracking for operator payments.
The cybersecurity review covered in-vehicle networks, firmware, CCTV and mobile NVR devices, ITS modules, PIS, LED displays, panic buttons, RPAS components, APIs, web portals, and associated data storage. Testing followed ISO/SAE 21434, AIS-189, and UN R155 Annex 5 standards.
Officials emphasized that the audit strengthens digital resilience and sets a benchmark for the deployment of secure, connected public transport fleets. The initiative aligns with India’s push toward electrification and digitalization of public transportation, highlighting cybersecurity as a growing priority for transit authorities.
GlobalLogic’s Piyush Jha stated the project reflects efforts to bolster next-generation mobility, while ISSPL’s Shashi Nath Mishra noted that structured cybersecurity validation can uncover risks before full-scale deployment.
