Greaves Electric Mobility has edged ahead of Ola Electric in daily electric two-wheeler registrations, marking a notable start to the New Year in India’s increasingly competitive E2W market. As per data available on the government’s Vahan portal, Greaves Electric Mobility recorded 1,185 electric two-wheeler registrations on January 8, compared with 1,108 registrations by Ola Electric.
While these single-day numbers do not alter long-term market rankings, they point to a gradual shift in buyer behaviour as the electric two-wheeler segment matures. Purchase decisions are increasingly being driven by real-world usability, durability, and confidence in long-term ownership, rather than headline specifications or brand-led momentum alone.
Greaves Electric Mobility’s recent traction has been supported by its Ampere-branded scooter portfolio, positioned as “Built for Bharat” and engineered around Indian riding conditions, traffic patterns, and usage cycles. From suspension tuning and ground clearance to seating ergonomics and load-bearing capability, the products are designed to address everyday commuting needs across urban, semi-urban, and rural markets.
A central pillar of this approach has been the company’s early and comprehensive shift to LFP battery chemistry across its electric two-wheeler range. In a market where concerns around battery safety, degradation, and heat performance continue to influence buyer confidence, LFP technology offers clear advantages. Known for higher thermal stability, longer life cycles, and consistent performance over time, LFP batteries are better aligned with Indian operating conditions, particularly high ambient temperatures and intensive daily usage. This has helped position Greaves’ scooters as dependable, low-anxiety options for first-time EV adopters as well as repeat buyers.
The product strategy is further supported by Greaves Electric Mobility’s expanding retail and after-sales footprint, along with financing partnerships aimed at improving accessibility beyond metro markets. Together, the combination of Bharat-focused engineering, LFP-led battery safety, and a growing service ecosystem has enabled the company to steadily build trust at the point of sale, translating into improving traction in a crowded and fast-evolving E2W landscape.
