GODI India Private Limited has been India’s first business to receive LFP BIS certification for its Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) Li-ion cells. The accreditation, which meets IS 16046 Part-2:2018 / IEC 62133-2:2017 standards, was revealed at the World Economic Forum in Davos in the presence of Telangana’s Chief Minister, Shri Revanth Reddy. This result demonstrates GODI’s dedication to innovation in superior energy storage devices for electric vehicles (EV) and renewable energy storage systems (ESS).

The business previously obtained BIS certification for its NMC811 cathode material-based Li-ion cells in mid-2022. The business intends to establish large-scale domestic GIGA scale cell manufacturing for NMC and LFP in EV, ESS, and defense applications. The recently certified LFP cells, which were evaluated to multiple standards, received BIS and AIS certificates, indicating technological expertise and partnership with investor Graphite India Limited.

GODI, which is backed by Blue Ashva Capital and Graphite India Ltd, is noted for technical achievements and sustainability in India’s IT industry. The LFP cells offer an energy density greater than 150 Wh/kg, excellent charge-discharge speeds, and a service life of over 2000 cycles. The result represents a step toward decreasing India’s reliance on foreign LFP batteries.

Mahesh GODI, Founder and CEO of GODI India, expressed excitement and highlighted the company’s commitment to establishing extensive indigenous manufacturing facilities for GIGA scale production of NMC & LFP cells. GODI aims for self-reliance and sustainability in energy storage and leads in environmental responsibility with eco-friendly processes.

Looking ahead, GODI plans to enhance LFP cell energy density, develop next-gen manganese-doped LFP materials, and formulate in-house electrolytes. As a signatory to The Climate Pledge by Amazon, GODI actively pursues solvent-free and dry electrode coating processes to reduce costs and minimize the carbon footprint.
