The company also received a patent for the DCPD Material. In a recent conversation with Aishwarya, Hyder Khan, CEO of Godawari Electric Motors discusses about its latest brand Eblu and impact of Li-ion discovery in India. Edited excerpts below.

Tell us about your latest EV segment offerings and what makes your product different from others?

Currently, we are offering 3 products in the market, including Eblu Rozee (E-auto), Eblu Spin & Eblu Thrill (E-cycle) under the brand name Eblu.

Our e-bicycle range is offered in three battery capacity variants- 6Ah, 12 Ah and 18Ah respectively. Our E- auto Eblu Rozee is made from DCPD material- which is a one of its kind materials used in the industry.

Godawari Electric Motors aims to provide state-of-the-art e-mobility solutions. Our goal is to reduce the carbon footprint in the environment while generating employment for millions in the country. Our vision is to create a sustainable society that is well-equipped to solve environmental problems such as pollution, promoting a better future for the coming generations.

Entering the manufacturing segment, kindly talk about the major issues you faced in the developing Indian market of EVs and the current EV landscape in the country.

The electric vehicle (EV) market in India has experienced significant growth and transformation in recent years. As a developing market, there have been several challenges and issues that have impacted the development and adoption of EVs in the country. Major issues faced in the emerging Indian EV market are lack of adequate charging infrastructure, Limited Range and Battery Technology, High Initial Costs, Manufacturing Infrastructure & Awareness, and Perception.

While the Indian EV market has faced challenges related to infrastructure and range anxiety, due to the government’s continued support and collaborative efforts between stakeholders, the current EV landscape in India is witnessing growth and holds significant potential for a sustainable and electric future.

Despite finding large reserves of lithium in India, the lack of refining technology is still a challenge. Give your perspective on the same.

The presence of large reserves of lithium in India is indeed a significant advantage for the country, considering the increasing global demand for this valuable resource in various industries, especially in electric vehicle production and renewable energy storage. However, the lack of refining technology poses a challenge to fully utilize these reserves.

Refining lithium involves extracting it from its raw form and purifying it to a high degree, ensuring its quality meets the required standards for various applications. While India has made strides in lithium exploration and mining, the development of refining technology lags behind.

It’s important to note that developing a robust refining infrastructure takes time and resources. While the challenge exists, it doesn’t imply that it will persist indefinitely. With strategic planning, investments, and collaborations, India has the potential to overcome this obstacle and establish a strong domestic lithium refining industry, tapping into its own resources and reducing dependence on imports.

Does Godawari Electric Motors offer a customized product to satisfy its client’s needs?

Right now, customization in our product is limited to an extent, but our products in the future will encompass a range of customization options, which will eventually boost demand for our products.

Dealing in commercial electric three-wheelers, does the company offers any post-sales service to the fleet owners. If yes, then elaborate.

We offer a comprehensive warranty 80000 km / 36 months* (whichever is earlier) for Eblu Rozee. We also offer 10 free services for Eblu Rozee which is the best in the industry along with Road Side Assistance. Additionally, we provide the option of extended warranty for institutional sale which can be worked upon at a minimal cost.

What are your future plans for expansion in India and abroad and any upcoming projects?

We will be focusing on network expansion and aiming to have 50 dealerships pan-India by August 2023 & 120 dealer pan-India by end of year 2023. We will be launching Eblu Feo (Electric scooter) & E-loader in the third quarter of 2023. We will also be launching another electric scooter model specially designed for the youth during the festive season.

Our electric bike development is underway and we are looking to launch it by the end of financial year 2023.
