      GM Donates 59 BrightDrop EV Vans to Red Cross

      In a major boost to disaster response efforts, General Motors (GM) has donated 59 BrightDrop electric vans to the American Red Cross and its Community Adaptation Program (CAP) partners. The move underscores GM’s commitment to advancing sustainable mobility while supporting communities impacted by natural disasters.

      Enhancing Disaster Relief with EV Technology

      The donated BrightDrop Zevo 600 electric vans come equipped with:

      • A range of up to 296 miles per charge

      • 614 cubic feet of cargo space

      • A maximum payload capacity of 3,710 lbs

      These capabilities will significantly enhance the Red Cross’s ability to deliver food, medical supplies, and emergency aid to vulnerable and disaster-hit areas, including remote communities.

      Leaders React to the Donation

      Ian Hucker, Vice President at GM Envolve, said:

      “Our donation of BrightDrop electric vans supports community outreach and strengthens disaster response for those most affected.”

      Cliff Holtz, President and CEO of the American Red Cross, expressed gratitude, noting GM’s long-standing partnership and ongoing support in mobilizing aid during critical times.

      Strengthening Resilience Amid Climate Challenges

      With the rising frequency of hurricanes, wildfires, and climate-related disasters, GM’s initiative adds to its history of supporting the Red Cross through vehicle loans, fundraising, and logistics. The new EV fleet is expected to play a crucial role in faster, cleaner, and more efficient disaster relief operations.

      This donation reflects how automakers like GM are integrating sustainability with social responsibility, reinforcing the role of EVs in addressing both climate change and humanitarian needs.
