The Secretary of the Ministry of Heavy industry, Kamran Rizvi, discussed the ongoing electrification-driven transition and the significance of industry adjusting to this shift. He highlighted the Ministry’s initiatives to boost local value addition and promote cost-effective manufacturing, especially in the electric vehicle (EV) industry, in order to aid India’s progress. He emphasized that the country’s industrial might is essential to establishing a competitive and long-lasting international presence.

The Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Amardeep Singh Bhatia, emphasized the department’s function in creating an atmosphere that is conducive to industrial growth. He talked about programs including the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, the National Industrial Corridor Program, and reforms meant to make doing business easier. Additionally, he highlighted initiatives to promote sector-specific parks, smart industrial township development, and foreign direct investment (FDI), particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, which are fostering urbanization and industrial expansion.

FICCI Vice President and RPG Group Vice Chairman Anant Goenka was upbeat about private investment matching domestic demand. Using insights from India’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and other comparable worldwide experiences, he emphasized the potential of sector-specific industrial parks to improve manufacturing competitiveness.

Along with industrial corridors, supply chain corridors are crucial, according to Manish Sharma, chairman of Panasonic Life Solutions India & South Asia and chair of the FICCI Committee on Electronics and White Goods Manufacturing. According to him, the PLI schemes have greatly enhanced private sector investments, localization, and product customization, and they are expected to raise demand in the coming years.

Founder and CEO of Kinetic Green Energy & Power Solutions Ltd. and Chair of the FICCI Committee on Electric Vehicles, Sulajja Firodia Motwani, observed the increasing use of EVs in the automotive industry. To position India as a major participant in both EV production and consumption, she suggested actions include developing a strong action plan to boost demand, implementing a graded PLI 2.0, reviewing tariff and duty structures, and stepping up research and development.
