Evera Cabs (Prakriti Mobility) has started repossession of 500 electric cabs earlier run by BluSmart, after the latter’s operating suspension in key metros.
Evera is strengthening its position as the leading electric cab service provider, with a sharp emphasis on airport mobility. 220 vehicles have already been taken over, and the remaining 280 will be repossessed in the coming days.
Evera declared in a news statement that the company is acquisition-hungry, with a pipeline of 1,000 BluSmart cabs.
This follows after BluSmart suspended operations in major cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi. The company, backed by BP Ventures and Mayfield, is also grappling with driver protests over unpaid salaries and layoffs.
Evera is an app-based, all-electric taxi service that has been operating at Indira Gandhi International Airport since 2022 and is in the B2B segment.
Evera added that the takeover of BluSmart’s cabs by its lenders is part of a multi-phase strategic initiative to consolidate its position in NCR’s high-demand airport cab market. Phase one involves redeploying these electric vehicles to enhance operations, particularly at and in the vicinity of Indira Gandhi International Airport.
In addition to fleet integration, the company indicates that many BluSmart drivers are making the transition to Evera, with about 150 already actively executing trips.
