Law Minister P. Rajeeve inaugurated Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council’s (K-DISC) newly established resource facilities for electric battery packaging at the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), located in the Technopark campus.
The new facility is designed to boost the indigenous manufacture and use of electric vehicle (EV) components by utilising locally sourced raw materials. This initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen Kerala’s position in the green mobility sector through the establishment of a dedicated EV consortium.
The inauguration event also featured a consortium meeting attended by key stakeholders, including K-DISC Member Secretary P. V. Unnikrishnan, C-DAC Director Kalaiselvan, TrEST Park CEO Rajashree M. S., and TTPL General Manager M. K. Prabhakaran.
Panel discussions took place with important members of the consortium, including Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Travancore Titanium Products Ltd (TTPL), TrEST Research Park, C-DAC, and K-DISC, to talk about ways to improve local electric vehicle (EV) development and innovation.
The initiative aligns with Kerala’s vision of promoting sustainable transport and creating a robust, self-reliant EV manufacturing base within the state.
