On October 8, 2025, Indian electric vehicle (EV) and auto components stocks declined sharply, reflecting weak sentiment in the market and profit taking across major counters.

Prominent companies like Tata Motors, Ola Electric Mobility, and UNO Minda were among the biggest losers of the day, with Tata Motors shedding 2.37 percent to ₹681.55 and Ola Electric losing 2.63 percent to ₹51.23 during early afternoon trading. UNO Minda dropped 5 percent to ₹90.74. Minda saw the sharpest fall of the day, plunging 4.02% to ₹1,311.40 amid sector-wide corrections.

Component manufacturers also faced downward pressure. Sona Comstar and Bharat Forge each declined by over 2%, while Minda Corporation fell 2.06%. Uniparts India and Exicom Tele-Systems also ended lower by 2.33% and 1.51%, respectively.

Among battery and energy firms, Amara Raja Energy & Mobility was relatively stable, slipping marginally by 0.07% to ₹1,006.00. Exide Industries, however, fell 1.12% to ₹398.35 as investors remained cautious over short-term demand trends in the EV battery segment.

Automotive majors also reflected the selling trend. Hero MotoCorp declined 1.83%, Bharat Electronics lost 1.63%, and Bosch slipped 1.09%. Greaves Cotton and JBM Auto ended lower by 1.62% and 1.49%, respectively.

The session’s only winner was HEG, which was up 0.98% to ₹515.75 with steady demand from industry.

Overall, the session showed continued caution in the market despite some optimism about India’s EV growth. According to analysts, although the order is very likely that investors will make short-term corrections and rebalance their portfolios, the longer-term outlook for the EV sector and auto component sector remains very strong, given the ongoing trends for electrification and technology adoption.
