EMO Energy has announced plans to expand its fast-charging infrastructure network to over 5,000 units by 2027, aiming to support the rapid growth of electric mobility in India.
The expansion will focus on fast-charging solutions, designed to reduce charging time and improve convenience for users, particularly in urban areas and high-demand corridors.
The initiative is expected to support key segments such as electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers, which are currently driving EV adoption in the country, especially in last-mile and commercial mobility.
The announcement comes amid increasing momentum in India’s EV charging ecosystem. The government has launched initiatives such as LEAF to improve interoperability and infrastructure, with participation from over 20 organisations.
According to recent government data, India had installed 27,737 public EV charging stations as of March 1, 2026, with 22,753 currently operational. Minister of State for Heavy Industries Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma informed Parliament of the progress.
The government has also supported infrastructure development through schemes such as FAME II, under which ₹912.5 crore was sanctioned for charger deployment, and the PM E-DRIVE Scheme, which has an allocation of ₹2,000 crore for nationwide charging infrastructure.
States including Karnataka, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi currently lead in the number of charging stations, reflecting growing regional adoption.
