In order to supply electric delivery vehicles for IKEA’s last-mile delivery fleet in India, EKA Mobility and IKEA have partnered. Equity partners Mitsui & Co., Ltd. from Japan and VDL Groep from the Netherlands sponsor EKA Mobility.

Ten electric vehicles have been delivered to IKEA as part of the agreement, and there are plans to expand the fleet throughout several Indian regions. IKEA anticipates lowering its carbon footprint in its logistics operations by utilizing electric delivery vans. The battery technology used in EKA’s electric vans is specifically tailored for urban settings. The goal of this collaboration is to become a model for the retail industry’s embrace of electric mobility.

Rohit Srivastava, Chief Growth Officer of EKA Mobility, stated that the partnership with IKEA is a significant step in their mission to promote sustainable electric mobility solutions in urban logistics. He expressed commitment to ongoing collaboration with IKEA.

Saiba Suri, Country Customer Fulfilment Manager at IKEA India, explained that IKEA’s approach to sustainable logistics involves building efficient infrastructure, developing skills, and creating opportunities throughout the value chain. Suri mentioned IKEA’s focus on entering new markets with an EV-first approach and investing in long-term, innovative solutions.
