EKA Mobility, in consortium with GreenCell Mobility, has been awarded the Letter of Award (LOA) for the supply and deployment of 915 electric buses in Hyderabad under the Government of India’s PM E‑DRIVE (Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement) scheme. Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) is acting as the nodal procurement agency for the project
Fleet and Operations
The order includes:
- 100 nine-metre electric buses
- 815 twelve-metre standard-floor non-AC electric buses
The buses are designed for urban transit operations. Under CESL’s Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model, the consortium will handle procurement, operation, and maintenance of the fleet, along with the development of associated charging and civil infrastructure. The city transport authority will pay a fixed per-kilometre fee, while fare revenues will remain with the agency.
Rohit Srivastava, Business Head and Chief Growth Officer of EKA Mobility, said:
“Securing this LOA for 915 electric buses is a strong endorsement of our technology and execution capabilities. We are proud to contribute to Hyderabad’s transition toward cleaner, smarter urban transport in alignment with the Government of India’s PM E‑DRIVE vision.”
Hyderabad is among five cities participating in PM E‑DRIVE’s first major tender. The scheme provides subsidies of around Rs 4,391 crore, targeting a broader rollout of 14,028 electric buses across India.
