Innovative EV Technologies, Inc., doing business as E-Cite Motors Group, has acquired the design and production rights to the iconic Kaiser-Darrin and will reintroduce it as the EV-DT, a fully electric, high-performance vehicle that combines modern innovation with vintage elegance. This is a stunning revival of American automotive heritage.
The Kaiser-Darrin was America’s first fibreglass-bodied sports automobile when it made its debut in 1954. It was famous for its sculpted bodywork by renowned designer Howard “Dutch” Darrin and its svelte sliding pocket doors. Based on the company’s exclusive aluminium EV chassis and shared driveline technology from its EV-GT and EV-C3 models, E-Cite’s EV-DT modernises this classic.
“The Kaiser-Darrin is a rolling sculpture, not just a car,” stated COO and seasoned auto designer Gene Langmesser. “Without sacrificing any of its essence, we are bringing this sculpture into the EV era.”
According to CEO Barry Henthorn, the EV-DT will make use of the business’s lightweight modular design, which enables agile performance, enhanced productivity, and quicker development while upholding safety and environmental regulations. The engineering of the EV-DT guarantees best-in-class sustainability and compatibility with various battery configurations.
The news follows E-Cite’s launch of the revolutionary RJ9 electric truck, which has an industry-best 900-mile range and positions the company as a disruptor in the utility and performance EV markets.
The EV-DT prototypes are anticipated to be unveiled in accordance with E-Cite’s existing vehicle lineup’s production schedules. Future updates will provide more specifics about the range, pricing, and specifications.
