In a major move to accelerate the UAE’s transition toward sustainable mobility, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has entered into a strategic partnership with ENOC Group to expand the electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging network across Dubai. The collaboration marks a significant milestone in enhancing the emirate’s green mobility infrastructure and supporting national sustainability goals.
The agreement was formalized during the 27th edition of the Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2025), organized by DEWA from 30 September to 2 October at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The signing ceremony was attended by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, and Hussain Sultan Lootah, Acting Group CEO of ENOC. The contract was officially signed by Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA, and Zaid Alqufaidi, Managing Director of ENOC Retail, in the presence of senior officials from both organizations.
Strengthening Dubai’s Green Mobility Vision
Speaking at the event, HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer emphasized that the partnership reflects DEWA’s continued commitment to advancing Dubai’s clean energy and sustainability vision.
“In collaboration with our partners from the government and private sectors, we are enhancing Dubai’s green mobility journey by developing an integrated infrastructure for electric vehicle charging. This contributes to reducing carbon emissions and achieving the goals of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, and the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy,” said Al Tayer.
He further noted that the collaboration with ENOC aligns with DEWA’s EV Green Charger Initiative, launched in 2014, which aims to encourage the adoption of electric vehicles by ensuring reliable and widespread access to charging facilities.
ENOC’s Role in Promoting Sustainable Transportation
Hussain Sultan Lootah, Acting Group CEO of ENOC, highlighted the strategic importance of this partnership in advancing Dubai’s sustainability agenda.
“Our collaboration with DEWA marks a strategic milestone in advancing the UAE’s green agenda and positioning Dubai as a global hub for sustainability and innovation. By expanding the fast-charging network across our service stations, we aim to meet the evolving needs of customers and contribute to the nation’s sustainable development objectives,” Lootah said.
Expanding the EV Charging Ecosystem
Under DEWA’s EV Green Charger Initiative, the authority currently operates more than 1,500 charging points across Dubai in partnership with both public and private sector entities. The new collaboration with ENOC will significantly boost the number of fast-charging stations available at ENOC service stations throughout the city, providing EV drivers with faster, more convenient charging options.
This expansion aligns with Dubai’s efforts to become one of the world’s most sustainable cities by promoting smart transportation, energy efficiency, and reduced carbon emissions.
The DEWA-ENOC partnership not only supports the UAE’s long-term climate objectives but also reinforces Dubai’s position as a regional leader in electric mobility and clean energy innovation.
