The environment department in Delhi is planning a ‘e-vehicle parade’ at Rajghat in early October to promote the use and purchase of electric cars (EVs) in the city. Over 500 EVs are expected to participate in the event, according to the organizers. Interested owners will soon receive a registration link.
The environment department has released a tender for the event, which is anticipated to cost approximately Rs 5.76 lakh, according to a senior official in the department. Bids can be submitted until September 30. The parade is scheduled to take place five days after the tender is awarded.
“The primary objective is to promote EV usage in Delhi and raise awareness about their benefits. We encourage as many EV owners as possible to join the parade,” an official said.
“Transitioning to electric vehicles will contribute to reducing vehicular pollution in the capital,” the official stated.
The government’s priority in the upcoming months will be to tackle air pollution, according to Environment Minister Gopal Rai, who recently returned to his position with the creation of a new cabinet.
