The Delhi government has started releasing long-pending subsidies to electric vehicle (EV) buyers, disbursing ₹7.95 crore in the latest phase. The amount has been allocated to nearly 4,000 beneficiaries whose applications were verified and approved.
Officials said the move is part of a broader effort to clear a large backlog of subsidy claims under the city’s EV policy. Earlier, over 22,000 applications were pending. After scrutiny and Aadhaar-based validation, thousands of eligible cases have now been processed for payment.
The government is using the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) to transfer funds directly to beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), aiming to ensure transparency and faster payouts.
Authorities acknowledged that delays had occurred in the past but said steps are now being taken to streamline the process. More payments are expected in the coming weeks as remaining applications are verified.
The government is also working on upgrading the EV subsidy portal and is likely to introduce an updated EV policy to further promote electric vehicle adoption in the capital.
