The Delhi government is preparing to roll out EV Policy 2.0, marking the next phase of the capital’s electric mobility push, in alignment with the Centre’s PM E-Drive scheme. The upcoming policy aims to accelerate electric vehicle adoption, expand charging infrastructure, and strengthen fleet electrification across public and private transport segments.
Building on the success of its earlier EV policy, Delhi’s revised framework is expected to introduce enhanced incentives for electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and commercial vehicles, while also supporting the transition of public transport and last-mile connectivity fleets to electric powertrains. Officials indicate that the new policy will integrate central benefits under PM E-Drive, which provides support for e-buses, charging stations, and EV-linked subsidies nationwide.
A major focus area under EV Policy 2.0 is the rapid expansion of charging infrastructure. The city plans to significantly increase the number of public charging points, create fast-charging corridors, and encourage residential and workplace charging solutions to improve accessibility and reduce range anxiety.
The policy is also expected to prioritise electrification of Delhi’s bus fleet and commercial vehicle segment, aligning with the capital’s broader air quality and sustainability goals. By combining state-level initiatives with central funding support, Delhi aims to reinforce its position as one of India’s leading EV markets and move closer to its long-term clean mobility targets.
