The Delhi government is set to announce its draft ElectVehicle (EV) Policy 2026 during the Budget Session starting March 16, 2026. The new policy, valid until 2030, will replace the current policy launched in 2020, which expires on March 31, 2026.
Key highlights of the proposed policy include:
- Year-wise incentives for electric vehicles, offering up to ₹10,000 per kWh for electric two-wheelers (capped at ₹30,000) and ₹50,000 for electric auto-rickshaws.
- Scrappage incentives for old vehicles to promote a cleaner fleet.
- Expansion of EV charging infrastructure across the city.
- Development of systems for battery recycling and safe disposal.
- Special incentives for women and transgender buyers to encourage wider adoption.
The policy aims to reduce vehicular pollution and accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in Delhi. Officials said the framework will also make EVs more affordable and sustainable through subsidies and infrastructure support.
