A tragic fire at a residential building in Indore on March 18 has killed seven family members and left three others critically injured. Authorities believe the blaze started at an electric vehicle charging point outside the house and was intensified by multiple LPG cylinder explosions inside the home.
The incident occurred early in the morning at a three-story house in Brajeshwari Annex Colony. Emergency responders rushed to the scene after neighbors reported a large fire and explosions. Firefighters were able to rescue three people and transported them to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the EV charging equipment may have sparked the fire, which then spread quickly through the house. Officials emphasized the need for a full investigation to determine the exact cause and any lapses in safety procedures.
The Madhya Pradesh government has announced a formal probe into the incident and plans to review safety standards for home and public EV charging points. The fire underscores the potential risks of improper battery handling, faulty electrical connections, and unsafe storage of flammable materials alongside electric vehicles.
Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution when charging electric vehicles at home and to ensure compliance with all safety guidelines to prevent similar accidents in the future.
