Leading Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers BYD and Geely are set to adopt autonomous driving systems from Nvidia as part of their push into advanced self-driving and robotaxi technologies.
The companies will integrate Nvidia’s Drive Hyperion platform, a comprehensive system designed for training and deploying autonomous vehicles, to accelerate development of Level 4 autonomy. This level enables vehicles to operate without human intervention within defined geographic areas.
The move is aimed at strengthening their position in the emerging robotaxi market, where competition is intensifying with players such as Tesla and Waymo.
In addition to BYD and Geely, global automakers including Nissan, Hyundai, and Isuzu have also signed agreements to use Nvidia’s autonomous vehicle systems.
Nvidia has further expanded its partnerships by collaborating with Uber to deploy robotaxi fleets across multiple cities by 2028. These developments build on existing collaborations, as several automakers already use Nvidia’s chips for driver-assistance technologies while continuing to develop in-house solutions.
The growing number of partnerships highlights increasing momentum in the global race to commercialize autonomous driving and scale robotaxi services.
