Century Lithium Corp. has declared that their lithium carbonate has been successfully transformed into high-performance battery-grade lithium-metal anodes (Li-MA) by Alpha-En Corporation, a Hopewell Junction, New York-based company. Century Lithium’s fully owned Angel Island Project in Esmeralda County, Nevada, provided the lithium carbonate used in the conversion, which was then processed in the company’s demonstration plant in neighbouring Nye County.
Alpha-En produced lithium metal anodes with remarkable areal capacity and extraction efficiency by using a sample of 99.8% pure lithium carbonate from Century Lithium and its in-house room-temperature conversion method. According to the results of the pilot test, Century Lithium’s lithium carbonate not only met but also surpassed the quality of battery-grade lithium carbonate from a top non-domestic commercial supplier. This shows how promising the company’s U.S.-based lithium supply is for applications involving next-generation batteries.
Bill Willoughby, President and CEO of Century Lithium, stated, “We are pleased that Century Lithium was chosen as a domestic supplier of lithium for Alpha-En’s programme to produce lithium-metal anodes.” “As we continue to support innovation throughout the US battery materials supply chain, this collaboration reflects the quality of our material and the strength of our technical capabilities.”
