As part of a larger initiative to modernise public transport and lower vehicle emissions, the Bihar government plans to deploy 150 electric buses throughout the state by the end of August.
In the capital city of Patna, 80 of the 150 buses will be stationed to service routes such as Bailey Road, Danapur, Patna City, Phulwari AIIMS, Bihta, Maner, and Digha. Masaurhi, Naubatpur, and Paliganj are among the ten blocks in the Patna district where an additional thirty buses are anticipated to run.
Later this summer, the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) will get the fleet from the central government, according to media sources. Infrastructure for charging is being prepared in advance of the launch. Major cities including Patna, Gaya, Purnia, Bhagalpur, and Muzaffarpur are developing charging stations. Up to 30 buses can be charged at once at the Phulwarisharif Transport Complex and the Bairia Bus Terminal in Patna, two large-capacity hubs.
According to state transport department officials, each route will have 10 to 15 buses assigned. A central control and command centre at the BSRTC headquarters will provide real-time monitoring of the services, which are anticipated to run until 9 p.m. every day. This would enable prompt action in the event of emergencies or operational problems.
