The largest commercial vehicle manufacturer in India, Tata Motors, has started delivering 148 more cutting-edge Tata Starbus electric buses to the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) as part of a significant push towards sustainable urban mobility. Bengaluru’s dedication to creating a cleaner, greener public transport system is reaffirmed by this deployment, which comes after 921 Tata electric buses have already been successfully operating around the city.
Along with key government officials and Shri Ramachandran R., IAS, Managing Director, BMTC, the new fleet was formally flagged off by Shri Ramalinga Reddy, Hon. Minister of Transport, Government of Karnataka.
“Tata Motors electric buses, which are already operating around Bengaluru, have demonstrated exceptional performance, satisfying public expectations for comfort and convenience while maintaining a high uptime rate.” “We are happy to introduce an additional 148 e-buses from Tata Motors in light of this performance,” stated Shri Ramachandran R., IAS. “With a larger network throughout Bengaluru, these buses will further improve our ability to provide citizens with a safe, sustainable, and effective travel option.”
Under a 12-year deal, TML Smart City Mobility Solutions Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of Tata Motors, will run and repair the recently introduced buses.
It is a historic moment as we start delivering yet another fleet of our eco-friendly and effective Starbus electric buses to BMTC on time, said Mr Anand S., Vice President and Head of TML Smart City Mobility Ltd. & Commercial Passenger Vehicle Business, Tata Motors. We are honoured by BMTC’s confidence in us and our goods, as well as our capacity to provide an unmatched uptime for two years with a cumulative mileage of over six crore km. We are still dedicated to helping them realise their goal of environmentally friendly public transportation by providing cutting-edge e-mobility solutions that are supported by service, technology, and implementation.
With a next-generation electric drivetrain, electronic stability control, electronic brake distribution, and an integrated transport system, the Tata Starbus EV is designed for heavy intra-city travel. The buses are expected to provide commuters with greater comfort and accessibility thanks to their low-floor architecture and ergonomic seating for 35 passengers. Most significantly, these buses contribute significantly to the improvement of Bengaluru’s air quality because they have zero exhaust emissions.
The collaboration between BMTC and Tata Motors keeps setting the standard for making public transport both ecologically sustainable and friendly to citizens as the city quickens its transition to green mobility.
