Bajaj Auto has resumed deliveries of its popular electric scooter, Chetak, across all dealerships after successfully overcoming global supply challenges of rare earth magnets. The development comes as a relief to customers and dealers ahead of the festive season, when demand traditionally peaks.
The company faced a severe shortage of rare earth magnets—crucial for electric motors—which had previously threatened to halt production. With shipments now streamlined, Bajaj Auto confirmed that Chetak deliveries recommenced on August 20, 2025.
Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj said production is being scaled up rapidly, with volumes expected to grow from around 15,000 units in August to nearly 40,000 units in September. He noted that demand for the scooter remains strong, with Chetak’s market share doubling since last year.
Eric Vas, President of the Urbanite Business Unit, expressed gratitude to customers for their patience during the supply crisis. He emphasised Bajaj’s commitment to meeting rising demand while maintaining quality standards.
Bajaj Auto closed FY2024–25 as the country’s top-selling electric scooter brand, underscoring the Chetak’s growing popularity in India’s competitive EV two-wheeler segment.
