A $50,000 grant from AusNet is supporting the rollout of clean energy infrastructure for a First Nations community in regional Australia.
The funding, provided through AusNet’s Energy Resilience Community Fund, has enabled the installation of an electric vehicle (EV) charger and a 40 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery storage system at the office of the Taungurung Land and Waters Council in Alexandra, Victoria.
AusNet announced that the new battery system and EV charger will complement an existing 45 kWh solar installation at the site, improving energy reliability and supporting the use of renewable power.
The Taungurung Land and Waters Council represents the Taungurung people of central Victoria, whose traditional lands extend across the upper reaches of the Goulburn River and its tributaries, north of the Great Dividing Range, from the Campaspe River to Kilmore, Victoria in the west.
The project is expected to enhance local energy resilience while promoting the adoption of electric vehicles and renewable energy in the region.
