Audi has officially started production of its E5 Sportback, the first model under its newly established China-exclusive AUDI brand, at the SAIC–Volkswagen Anting facility. Pre-sales for the electric fastback have also commenced, with first deliveries expected in September 2025.
The E5 Sportback is offered in multiple variants, ranging from the Pioneer RWD with a 76 kWh LFP battery and 618 km CLTC range to the Flagship Quattro AWD featuring a 100 kWh battery, 647 km range, and 579 kW motor. Prices in China start from RMB 235,900 to RMB 319,900 (approximately €28,200–€38,200).
Built on the Advanced Digitised Platform (ADP) developed with SAIC, the E5 Sportback integrates cutting-edge technology, including lidar, radar, 11 cameras, and Nvidia Orin X-powered autonomous and infotainment systems. The vehicle also features an 800 V architecture for fast charging and high-performance driving, with top speeds reaching 0–100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds for the highest-spec variant.
Audi’s China-exclusive branding strategy reflects its aim to tailor EV offerings for the local market, combining advanced technology, extended range, and performance with China-specific design and features.
With production underway and pre-sales active, the E5 Sportback positions Audi to capture a growing segment of the Chinese electric vehicle market while showcasing the company’s commitment to innovation and localised EV solutions.
