Ather Energy is all set to unveil its most affordable electric scooter concept, the EL, at its annual Community Day event on August 30, 2025. The scooter is expected to be priced under ₹1 lakh and aims to make electric mobility more accessible to Indian families.

The EL concept is built on a new EL platform, designed to be modular, scalable, and cost-efficient, leveraging insights from Ather’s popular 450 and Rizta models. According to CEO Tarun Mehta, the platform focuses on practical design and affordability without compromising on Ather’s performance and technological standards.

Teasers of the scooter reveal a family-friendly design with conventional body panels, modular components, and battery-swapping capability. It also retains certain elements from existing Ather models to optimise cost and production efficiency.

Ather is targeting the entry-level EV segment, competing with models like the Ola S1 and Bajaj Chetak. The production version of the EL is expected to launch in 2026, with prices projected below ₹1 lakh. The company is also developing a new manufacturing facility in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra, which will likely produce the EL scooter.

In addition to the EL concept, Ather’s Community Day event will showcase ecosystem upgrades, including next-generation fast-charging stations and the launch of Ather Stack 7.0, an upgraded software platform aimed at enhancing ride experience and connectivity.

The launch of the EL concept marks Ather’s continued effort to expand electric mobility across India while making EVs more affordable and practical for everyday users.
