Anjani Kumar has been appointed Chief Digital & Information Officer (CDIO) at Ather Energy Limited, one of India’s top producers of electric two-wheelers. In his capacity as CDIO, he will be instrumental in forming Ather’s digital strategy and fortifying its technological foundation in the areas of product development, manufacturing, and customer experience, guaranteeing that technology remains central to Ather’s expansion.

With more than 24 years of experience, Anjani Kumar has led IT innovation and digital transformation in industries like BFSI, technology, logistics, automotive, and pharmaceuticals. At Fortune 500 firms like IBM, Nissan, Cognisant, Strides Pharma, and Tata AIG, he has occupied senior leadership roles.

Anjani will spearhead Ather Energy’s digital strategy, supervise the creation of digital platforms and products, fortify the organization’s IT infrastructure, including cybersecurity, and improve its data-driven skills in his new position. Ajani will manage teams in WebTech, IT & Security, MES, Business Intelligence, and Digital Engineering in her role as CDIO.

“Ather Energy has been digital-first and data-driven from day one, with a strong focus on systems from products to manufacturing to sales,” stated Swapnil Jain, Executive Director and CTO, in response to the appointment. “The complexity naturally rises when our company expands quickly, adding new business models, more products, and deeper software integration. Our expansion will depend on developing strong systems with a foundation to use AI on top of enterprise data. Building a cohesive digital thread throughout the company is facilitated by placing all digital functions under a single leadership position. Our intricate digital infrastructure will be strengthened and made simpler thanks in large part to Anjani’s extensive cross-industry knowledge. Our goal is to strengthen Ather’s tech-led advantage going forward.”

Anjani Kumar, CDIO of Ather Energy, spoke at the event and stated, “I think information and digital strategies are at the heart of the future of mobility. India has enormous potential for electric mobility, and I’m excited to work with our bright engineers, entrepreneurs, and company executives to fully use digital innovation. Together, my multi-domain digital knowledge and Ather’s dedication to deep engineering and first-principles thinking will propel important and game-changing breakthroughs. I can’t wait to help Ather on her trip.”

Anjani holds a Post Graduate degree in Marketing & Management from Kelley School of Business, Indiana University (USA), and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Rourkela. A recognized industry leader, Anjani has received several prestigious leadership awards, including ‘Digital Leader of the Year’, ‘India’s Top CIO’, ‘Tech Icon’, and ‘Digital Insurance Icon’.
